Dr. Ekta Patel is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Astrophysics and Planetary Science at Villanova University.

 

Her research interests include near-field cosmology, galaxy dynamics, and dark matter. She uses the combined power of observational data sets, orbital modeling, and high-resolution simulations of the Universe to uncover how galaxies grow, evolve, and interact with each other over cosmic time.

Outside of teaching and research, Dr. Patel is committed to advancing equity, inclusion, and belonging within higher education.

  • (2026) I will be co-authoring a chapter of the revised GMT Science Book. 

  • (2026) Patel et al. was accepted for publication in ApJ.

  • (2025) Bennet & Patel et al. was accepted for publication in ApJ.

  • (2025) The HSTPROMO team was granted two HST Cycle 33 GO proposals to observe Cetus dSph and M31 satellites.
